Gate 9: Waterfall

GATE 9

S – SW

25º to 35º

Spaced trees with consistent fall-line flow, pockets of wind-blown snow, and occasional rollers that build speed. The lower section funnels toward creek crossings near the base, where terrain features become more irregular. A prominent waterfall drop sits in the main drainage and is a key hazard to identify and avoid, especially after heavy snowfall or early season when coverage is thin.

Gate 9 sits tucked between Hanazono 2 and Holiday Run, offering short, playful lines shaped by spaced trees, wind-blown snow pockets, and small natural features. The terrain funnels toward a creek with a prominent waterfall drop that must be crossed or avoided depending on conditions. Rollers and subtle terrain undulations add variety, but the lower section includes creek crossings and a clear waterfall hazard that requires attention, especially on deeper days.

Choose your creek crossing carefully. Crossing early keeps the exit short and manageable, while pushing farther down the drainage gives you a longer run but makes the exit progressively more demanding.

The entrance sits just above and slightly left of the Hanazono #2 top station, about 30 meters along the route toward Holiday Run.

After crossing the river, a short traverse brings you back toward Holiday Run; going too far down may require a hike out.
