Niseko’s gate system provides access to lift-accessed sidecountry terrain beyond resort boundaries. Conditions, weather and avalanche risk determine which terrain is suitable each day. Local knowledge helps maximise terrain access while making informed decisions throughout the day.

The night before
We check the avalanche bulletin, weather and wind, and agree a plan with you.

Morning meet
We meet in Hirafu or Annupuri. Beacon check, safety briefing and a warm-up run.

We ride the gates that are open and safe that day, chasing the best snow.

Quick answers before you book a guided gate day.
Do I need a guide to ride the Niseko gates?
No. The gates are open to anyone with the right gear and knowledge, but a guide picks the open, safe gates and the best snow for the day.
Can skiers and snowboarders ride together?
Yes. We plan routes that work for both.
What equipment do I need?
Beacon, shovel and probe. Rental may be available on request.
How far ahead should I book?
January and February fill up first. Book as early as you can, but last-minute requests are welcome.
How many riders per guide?
Up to 4 riders per guide, or 5 with an extra fee. Larger groups on request, with an extra tail guide.
